Message from The President of Steel Wire Association of Malaysia

The manufacturers of Steel Wire products are facing a lot of challenges such as Free Trade Agreements, rising costs of wire rod, restriction of import of raw materials, competitiveness of the export markets, etc.

In order to overcome these challenges, the whole steel industry, which includes the upstream and downstream, as well as the government, must work together to ensure that there is fair competition and a level playing field for the steel wire Industry.

With the coming implementation of the Ninth Malaysia Plan and the 3rd Industrial Master Plan, there are ample opportunities for our manufacturers but we must be prepared now by ensuring that our products are of the highest quality that meets the requirement of the International Standards. We must also be efficient in our production so that we can compete in the local market as well as internationally.
